How do I begin?
So what do you need to start podcasting? There are a lot of steps, so let's look at just one aspect: equipment. Too often people think that there is a big "buy-in" at the front. The photo above shows an excellent two-person setup, costing between $2000 and $4000, which can connect to Bluetooth and your phone. You can use that, take a good idea, and produce what we will call "Podcast A".
For but what about a new business, or a social group who doesn't have a lot of money? You can take that same idea, use simpler equipment, and be up and running for about 10% of that: $200-$500 and produce what we will call "Podcast B".
Both methods work very well. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The best part? Regardless of how they are recorded both Podcasts A and B go to the same outlets. Both will promote the same idea. What makes the difference is the over all quality of the podcast. Selecting the best you can afford of the available components for either plan is 1/2 the battle. You must then use that equipment correctly to get the most out of it for your listeners. The writing and delivery are the second half of the equation.
There is also the third option. Work with a professional to produce your podcast for you. Have your ideas brought to life while you focus on other aspects of your business.

Using a strong illustration is important to support what you are saying, the image be relevant, and capture the listener's attention when you post your production. I am using an image of a burned-out home with only the picket fence and an empty pet dish on the front walk. It is highly relevant to the topic of Emergency Preparation and is an actual fire scene photo.
